Three Books in the Making: The ONE MUSEUM Book Programme

read

We are developing a book programme within ONE MUSEUM. Its starting point is simple: a museum is more than a building, an exhibition or a collection of technologies. It is a cultural institution whose creation, daily work and future need to be considered together.

For now, we are introducing three working book projects. Each addresses a different set of questions, but all are connected by the idea of the museum as a whole. The headings below describe subject areas rather than final book titles.

Creating New Cultural Institutions

How does an idea become a functioning cultural institution? Focusing on museums, this book explores the path from mission, concept and strategy to the functional programme, architecture, team, opening and long-term institutional sustainability.

Museum Management

How can a museum improve without losing what makes it valuable? We examine leadership, people, processes and visitor experience through the principles of continuous improvement — not as a one-off reform, but as an ongoing way of working.

Digital Transformation of Museums

What does meaningful digital change look like for a museum? The focus is on strategy, data, digital platforms, artificial intelligence and professional capabilities. Technologies matter here only insofar as they help the institution fulfil its purpose.

A programme in development

We are now shaping the structure and content of these books. We plan to use this journal to share research questions, ideas and selected working materials as the programme takes shape. Final publication titles and release dates will be announced later.
