Together with a team of artists and the Tatchers studio, we are announcing the start of AI Hokusai, a research project at the intersection of technology and art. It brings the legacy of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai together with contemporary digital art and artificial intelligence.
Watch the introduction to AI Hokusai
AI Hokusai explores how artificial intelligence can engage with this artistic genius, bringing together tradition and emerging technologies. Hokusai’s work offers exceptional possibilities for reinterpretation in the digital age, making him an ideal figure for connecting art history with an AI-driven future. We aim to expand creative boundaries with AI while respecting Hokusai’s enduring legacy.
Our plans include an artist residency with an open selection process, an online exhibition and its virtual environment, a series of public webinars about art and technology, and a printed catalogue to document the project.
More information is available on the project website.
